The use of consumer fireworks in the greater Phoenix area are a significant fire hazard. Chemicals are discharged adding to the pollution of our air, water, and soil. The use of fireworks causes stress and fear in many people including children, the elderly and veterans with PTSD. This distress greatly affects domestic animals causing them to flee in terror which adds to the numbers of lost and homeless animals in shelters. Additionally, the fireworks cause a similar distress in wildlife causing them to be disoriented and often run into roadways. Outlawing the sale and use of consumer fireworks would greatly benefit all those affected by their use.
