Karnataka Chief Minister to abolish interstate taxes for tourists vehicles

The Issue

Recent abnormal increase in interstate permit and taxes  by Kerala is going to discourage tourists visiting  South India.  Kerala Govt has done this since Karnataka was the first one to increase. This tit for tat attitude is killing tourist travelling by road and  tourism as an industry is going to be impacted very badly unless urgent steps are taken to reduce the interstate permit and taxes for All India Permit tourist vehicles.   We are requesting our Chief Minister to be the first one to abolish  this and encourage tourism.   Bangalore airport is gateway to South India with maximum number of international airline connecting has helped in getting highest number of tourist with e-visa.     Tour Operator needs to hire a vehicles for minimum of  4 or 10 days to travel from Karnataka to Kerala & Tamil Nadu. Hiring a Tempo traveller for 10 days from Karnataka to Kerala and Tamil Nadu cost around Rs.45000/- and Kerala Tax alone cost Rs.42000/ since it has to be paid  quarterly.   Transporter after investing in vehicle which is taxed by State & Central Govt,  costing around Rs.8/- can not pay Rs.1.50/-lakhs annually for Kerala Tax alone, this is because vehicle may enter Kerala 3 or 4 times a year.   This will hit on transporters, tour operators, hotel and resorts owners, self employed drivers, guides, airports directly indirectly many industries. It is going to badly impact on 10 million people in Karnataka state alone.
