Google Hangouts were banned off the school chromebooks on April 16, 2021. This was to prevent "distractions" during class that could disrupt the course of learning. During Summer Break, however, there is no learning to disrupt—making the idea of blocking Google Hangouts on chromebooks useless. Many students rely on things such as e-mail and Google Hangouts to communicate. Without Google Hangouts, some of us can't communicate over the summer. Many of us don't have another method for communication.

It's essential to unblock Google Hangouts during summer to let many of us communicate. Since there's no learning to distract from over summer, it's questionable to keep hangouts blocked. Unblocking Google Hangouts will open up a door for many people, including me, to talk.
