Justice for Christopher Alder

Justice for Christopher Alder
The Issue
Christopher Alder died face down on a custody suite floor, with his trousers round his ankles and his hands cuffed behind his back, while white police officers made monkey imitations and references to banana boots and a hood with slits.
April 2020 marked the 23rd anniversary of his death.
Christopher’s family suffered not only his horrific death, but also a mix up with his body. 11 years after his funeral, his family were informed that they'd buried a 77-year-old woman, Grace Kamara who had died in 1999.
In 2013, it was finally admitted that Christopher's sister Jane Alder had been under surveillance by Humberside Police.
None of the officers were ever convicted of any wrongdoing. Five Humberside police officers were put on trial for the manslaughter of Christopher, but the case later collapsed, and all officers were cleared. Four officers were granted early retirement with pay-outs of £44,000-£66,000.
The CPS decided there was no realistic prospect of a conviction for either misconduct or the prevention of the lawful burial of a body and declined to press charges.
Two officers, accused of spying, faced a Humberside Police misconduct hearing, but the panel decided there was no case to answer.
We demand justice for Christopher Alder and his loved ones. Sign to reopen the case and hold the officers responsible for his murder and the surveillance of Jane Alder following her brother's tragic and preventable death accountable.
