A couple of days ago, another InfoBarrel author reported the same type of scam. This time, it impacts former Helium authors: http://www.infobarrel.com/forum-topic.php?id=13190 Sadly, the sites (that I know of) who have taken advantage of honest writers include: Bukisa, Bubblews, HubPages, Posturown, Seekyt, and TopicSpotter. Other sources: http://www.infobarrel.com/forum-topic.php?id=12944&page=2, http://www.infobarrel.com/forum-topic.php?id=13116 and http://www.infobarrel.com/forum-topic.php?id=13050&page=1 Here's what I say to HubPages and all the others unethical site owners: Writers will no longer tolerate the theft or our identities, work, and earnings. Furthermore, shame on you for withholding money from the charities we trusted would receive some money. And just when I thought I was the only one told that I'd need to pursue "legal recourse" in federal court (costing me at least $5,000), I find out from another victim: "What I found really objectionable when I talked to the woman at GoDaddy was that if [SITE OWNER"S NAME] was actually one of their clients it would have to go to their legal department. OK fine. But the legal department would not talk to me, I would need a lawyer to represent me and to fill out the forms. I asked if I would be able to fill out the forms myself (which I have done here in Canada for dealings with the provincial court) and she said categorically "no". This really shuts out the little writer who might make 20 bucks a month or so, doesn't it? And this really highlights how the US favors corporations over individuals." Worth Repeating: "This really shuts out the little writer [and their charities] who might make 20 bucks a month or so, doesn't it?" Clearly, something needs to change. We, as writers, NEVER gave up ownership of our content. If the "little writer and their charity" cannot afford federal court for a copyright infringement case, then obviously "unfair and deceptive business practices" must apply here (and in similar cases). A class action would definitely be most welcome. Thank you once again for reading what IS the truth. The WHOLE truth. If you have information regarding possible violations of state or federal statutes, rules, or regulations, or violations of fiduciary responsibility by a corporation or limited liability company to its shareholders, investors, or employees, call the California State Attorney General’s Whistleblower Hotline at 1-800-952-5225. You can reference my FTC complaint REFERENCE NO: 61039505 (which I submitted to the Federal Trade Commission on April 9th, 2015). I'll be in touch, Rose
