Kakayahan, Hindi Kawalan: Empower PWDs with Job Opportunities

The Issue

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪e

In the Philippines, persons with disabilities (PWDs) are often provided assistance but rarely given opportunities to work and become financially independent. Many businesses and institutions focus on charity rather than inclusion, reinforcing the idea that PWDs are incapable of contributing to the workforce. Despite existing laws like the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities, implementation remains weak, and many PWDs still struggle to secure stable jobs. Our campaign seeks to address this issue by advocating for equal employment opportunities, creating a society where PWDs are empowered, not just supported. Through this initiative, we aim to change the narrative and emphasize their skills, talents, and potential in the professional world

 

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨?

1. 𝖤𝗊𝗎𝖺𝗅 𝖱𝗂𝗀𝗁𝗍𝗌 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝖮𝗉𝗉𝗈𝗋𝗍𝗎𝗇𝗂𝗍𝗂𝖾𝗌 - Employment is a basic right that should be accessible to everyone, including PWDs. Giving them job opportunities allows them to be independent and self-support.

2. 𝖤𝖼𝗈𝗇𝗈𝗆𝗂𝖼 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝖲𝗈𝖼𝗂𝖺𝗅 𝖦𝗋𝗈𝗐𝗍𝗁- When PWDs are employed, they can support themselves and their families, reducing dependency on assistance programs and contributing to the economy.

3. 𝖡𝖾𝗍𝗍𝖾𝗋 𝖨𝗆𝗉𝗅𝖾𝗆𝖾𝗇𝗍𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇 𝗈𝖿 𝖤𝗑𝗂𝗌𝗍𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝖫𝖺𝗐𝗌- The Magna Carta for PWDs already supports employment rights, but without proper enforcement, many still face discrimination and limited job opportunities.

• Strengthen the implementation of existing employment laws for PWDs.

• Provide skills training and development programs to help PWDs qualify for various job opportunities.

• Conduct awareness campaigns to educate employers and the public on the importance of workplace inclusion.
