Get Tyson Foods to add 2% seaweed to their cow feed to drastically reduce methane gas

The Issue

The most recent report by the IPCC states that significant change needs to happen globally to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions which drastically climate change. One of the largest producers of greenhouse gas emissions result from agriculture, a large part in due to the beef industry. Short of asking people to remove meat from their diet we must look for alternatives. Recent research has shown that adding 2% seaweed to a cow's feed can reduce the amount of methane produced by over 30 percent. (https://m.phys.org/news/2018-08-seaweed-dairy-cows-emissions.html the reason for focusing on methane is due to the potency of it as a greenhouse gas. Methane is 86 times as potent of a greenhouse gas as CO2. (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-bad-of-a-greenhouse-gas-is-methane/

This petition aims to convince one of the largest beef producers in the US, Tyson Foods, to add 2% seaweed to their cow's feed. By talking to their sustainably executive, Justin Whitmore, I hope to start a discussion on how this can be made possible.

It is time that we as a society look to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in a sensible manner, without asking people to completely alter their way of life. This is a simple step towards a better future for ourselves and our children.
