Fertilizers used on farms contain the chemicals nitrogen and phosphorus, which then end up in our lakes and oceans! When this happens, it feeds the extensive overgrowth of algae, causing hypoxia. These "dead zones", areas where nothing can live, are extremely harmful, suffocating everything in them. These chemicals are destroying our oceans, killing our fish and marine life, and for what? Fertilizers on farms! With your help, we can petition the Canadian Government to pass a law to stop the use of highly concentrated fertilizers.
