The COVID-19 pandemic has seen an incredible number of Canadians losing temporarily any source of revenue. Many of them live paycheck to paycheck and will have to put their rent on loaned money or on credit, which will cost more in the long term and unfairly make them suffer the consequences of the pandemic longer. We demand that the Canadian Government and the governments of each provinces declare a rent freeze and allow Canadians to survive during these hard times. Many goverments have understood this situation and they have put forth a freeze on mortgage for the same reasons.

Please find the compassion in you to understand that this is an unusual time and that forcing a great number of Canadians to add onto their debts will be devastating to our economy and make its return to normal harder and less likely. We are all suffering in this situation and simply helping renters will have a beneficial effect on reducing the rate of infection just with this simple measure. Show us your leadership and show us your humanity during this crisis while we all stand together to protect and help our neighbors and friends from this dangerous situation.
