The judge Kathleen Caldwell was involved in a case concerning a female pedophile, Dylan McEwen, and made a controversial ruling based only on questionable research done by psychologists. She found the woman a low risk offender despite sexually abusing and raping toddlers, producing 25,000 child pornography pictures, and 111 videos. She also spared the woman from being called a pedophile, claiming women could not be pedophiles, setting a false precedent. Her logic was flawed, her ignorance to the harm done by the children was evident, and her denial of facts was substantial. While the female pedophile did receive 6 years in prison, that is a mere fraction of what she deserves. Hon. Kathleen Caldwell should be removed from her position and replaced with a more competent judge.

Case details concerning the harm done to the children, which can be further read about here, were largely ignored, with only a few charges of sexual assault and child pornography going through. The six year sentence she got was very lenient, and McEwen's case should be looked over again by the judge that will replace Caldwell. The toddlers will be left with severe trauma after being abused in such a way, and left in a state of mental instability as they grow up. Caldwell's ruling on the case shows how little a regard she held for the toddlers in that case, with her being more concerned about how "females can't have paraphilias", which brings up the next reason to remove her.

The logic in the ruling was flawed, with Caldwell quoting psychological papers, saying “(I) agree that at first blush it appears illogical that women do not suffer from other paraphilic disorders,”. She treated a few subjective papers as concrete and conclusive evidence that women can't be pedophiles. However, she goes on to describe McEwen's crimes as a result of arousal via masochism, not acts against children. This masochism was described to be on the medium-severe end, yet McEwen was labeled a low risk offender. Masochism is a paraphilic disorder. This statement negates her previous one, claiming women can indeed have paraphilias like pedophilia! However her ruling here may be used as a precedent and allow several other criminals to get away on similar charges.

If Caldwell is removed, it will restore some faith in the justice system, and the toddlers abused will be avenged. Justice will be served, and some sense of order will be established. However, if Caldwell continues being a judge, more decisions will be made following subjective papers, faulty logic, and biased worldviews. Injustice will become more common, and the legal system will lose public support. I ask that you, the House of Representatives and the Senate listen to the people who wish for justice and a fair judgement.
