Privilege To Bear Arms In Canada

Privilege To Bear Arms In Canada
The Issue
(TAP HERE TO SUPPORT ME NOW, THANK YOU!)
In recent changes as of March 2018, The Canadian Eligibility Requirement to Hold a Firearms Licence was amended as follows:
Quoting text from the actual section "2.1 Part 1 of Bill C‑71: Amendments to the Firearms Act and the Criminal Code" and actual section 2.1.2:
>>> "In determining an applicant’s eligibility to hold a firearms license, the judge or the CFO is required to consider the following factors specified in section 5(2) of the Firearms Act:
1. Whether the person has been convicted or discharged (pursuant to section 730 of the Code) of an offense in the commission of which violence against another person was used, threatened or attempted, a firearm-, weapon- or ammunition‑related offence under the Firearms Act or Part III of the Code, and criminal harassment (pursuant to section 264 of the Code), or drug trafficking or possession for the purpose of trafficking (section 5(1) or 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act [CDSA]),15 importing or exporting or possession for the purpose of exporting (section 6(1) or 6(2) of the CDSA), or production of a substance (section 7(1) of the CDSA);
And whether the person has been “treated for a mental illness, whether in a hospital, mental institute, psychiatric clinic or otherwise and whether the person was confined to such a hospital, institute or clinic, that was associated with violence or threatened or attempted violence on the part of the person against any person”; or whether the person “has a history of behavior that includes violence or threatened or attempted violence on the part of the person against any person.” <<<
And here is what they changed >>> "Previously, there was a five‑year limit placed on how long these factors could affect the ability to hold a license. Clause 2 of Bill C‑71 deletes the wording “within the previous five years” from section 5(2), making them factors to be considered regardless of when they occurred.<<<
We the people of Canada, who are of sound mind, feel this is completely unfair if not biased and hereby petition for our 'privilege' to bear / own arms as before regarding the "five‑year limit placed on how long these factors could affect the ability to hold a license."
We also ask that any CANADIAN CITIZEN being turned down for a said license MUST be informed in WRITING or email as to the actual reason for the refusal to issue a license to possess arms.
This will prevent any rogue officials from turning down an application by looking past the five-year deadline into a personal history.
It would be absurd to say, EVERYONE who passes a drivers test in Canada can drive UNLESS:
And quote again:>>> " they have been treated for a mental illness, whether in a hospital, mental institute, psychiatric clinic or otherwise and whether the person was confined to such a hospital, institute or clinic, that was associated with violence or threatened or attempted violence on the part of the person against any person”; or whether the person “has a history of behavior that includes violence or threatened or attempted violence on the part of the person against any person"<<<
The Canadian government allows people to pass a driver's test and drive without as mentioned above, but the Government would probably have to refuse half the country for the privilege of a 'drivers' license if they applied the same rules in bill C-71 to a new driver?!
And just because someone went nuts and ran over some poor souls and killed them, the Government wouldn't dare to withhold driver licenses from half of Canada now would they?
So the same should be applied to gun holders.
I the petition starter being of sound mind and soul, and with a very OLD soft violent history from over 30 years ago, bar fights and such believe this has gone too far. I am 53 years old, I wanted to get my gun license this year as I am retiring so I can go outdoors deep remote areas and enjoy life with some self-protection and the ability to hunt too.
Have I done anything in the past five years? NOPE! NOT EVEN TEN OR 20 YEARS!
I actually drove TAXI the last few years, no problem AND with an R.C.M.P approved chauffer permit, with my bad history :) I already did my time in jail and learned my lesson, now I am being punished AGIAN for it?
Case closed. Please reinstate at the least the five-year history so I can go backwoods :)
Help support me and take this fight across Canada! Donations welcome! TAP HERE TO SUPPORT ME, THANK YOU!
