Hello,

My name is Rowan and you might remember me from Save The Grey Fox petition. I'm 10 years old and my friend showed me some REALLY horrible photos of dead whale's and told me that its called whaling, its manly in Iceland and some kinds of whales near there are Humpback Whale, Killer Whale AKA Orca, Minke Whale, Blue Whale, Fin Whale, Sei Whale, Bottlenose Whale and the Pilot Whale and probably more. I was so heartbroken to see these poor whales being killed for no reason. My friend Lyla who you might know from her petition to change the racist name of plantation road also said that over a thousand whales are killed each year for their meat and body parts to be sold for commercial gain. Their oil, blubber, and cartilage are used in pharmaceuticals and health supplements. Whale meat is even used in pet food, or served to tourists as a 'traditional dish'. Its a little gross but it is their culture. Whaling happens in Japan and Iceland and some other places. It was practiced as an organized industry as early as 875 AD.
