Why this petition matters

Started by Leland Lewis

Remembrance Day is supposed to be a day of respect for our military and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, so it should not be just two minutes that many people miss.

Make Remembrance Day a Federal statutory holiday so people can attend services and so they know that this is a very important day, not just a time to wear a poppy and maybe remember 11:00.

We should be showing that this day is about our fallen, not just another work day with the addition of a poppy on your chest, if your company allows it.

We call on all members of the Federal government to show that our fallen are more important than the almighty dollar and that Remembrance Day is more than wearing a poppy and two minutes of silence that many people miss; it is about showing respect for the men and women who protected our freedom at a high cost to themselves and the men and women who make that commitment today.
