Justin Trudeau to change animal abuse laws so offenders can be punished.

Canada has one of the oldest animal abuse laws in the world. This means that Canadians can abuse animals and get away with it, because the old 1892 law prevents most offenders of animals from getting a long term punishment. This can lead to repeated abuse, and death of multiple animals. I had a teacher whose twenty one year old cat was tortured to death. I don't remember the details of the story correctly, but I believe the person who was the cause of the torture did not get punished because of the outdated Canadian laws.
On a personal scale, I believe that deep down, every animal deserves to be treated with love and not hatred. I had a friend tell me about this video where someone stabbed wooden stick through a dog. Under the current law, possibly the worst punishment could be prohibition of owning animals, but that person deserves to spend years in jail.
Animal abuse is not funny! If this petition gets enough signatures, then I believe that Justin Trudeau will at least consider making this a bill and bringing it up in the House of Commons. If this petition doesn't get enough signatures, animal abuse in Canada will continue to spiral downwards towards the worse. Every animal deserves to be treated with love.
If the bill gets passed, I hope education about animal abuse is common household knowledge. I believe that every animal deserves to be treated with love.
