Defaming of International Students by Joginder Bassi

Defaming of International Students by Joginder Bassi
The Issue
Recently, a video of a live talk show became viral where the host, Joginder Bassi and a female caller defamed international students from India. They clearly said that Indian students should not be given study visa and should not be allowed entry to Canada. They said that canadian born children are innocent and that we, international students, are over smart and spoil them. They also stated that female students who come from India get pregnant and are unaware of the fact of who the father is. They also said that divorce rate is increasing because female international students get into a relationship with their landlords and force them to divorce their wife. A relationship is not started by one person. If the girl is responsible for the divorce then so is the boy. Why are girls being blamed? The lady also stated that people come from India as a couple and then stay here in live in relationships. We do not understand how does that concern her. If someone plans on getting married in future, then it's there decision whether they want to live together before marriage or not. They raised questions on international students going to gurudwara sahib without bathing and they are not well dressed. As far as we are concerned, sikhism promotes free food (Langar) for needy. Our God cares about our devotion and not how well dressed we are. Another caller joined and he stated that the problem is that we cannot afford to live a decent life in Canada and so we should not come to Canada. But international students are the one who deposit $10,000 in their GIC accounts before setting foot in Canada.
Being an international student myself, I can tell how hard it is to have a life away from your family. We go to school during the day, work night shifts, cook our own food, and still keep our GPA high. If we have a problem or we feel lonely, we don't have our parents to share our problems with. We work wherever we can get a job, be it a factory, taxi, or any restraunt. Saying things like these about international students, defame us.
We want Mr. Joginder Bassi to take his words back and apologise to all the international students who are working hard day and night to make a successful life in this country.
