We delivered your signatures to NSW Parliament in September 2022, and thanks to your support, we secured a coronial inquest into the death of our son, which will take place on 26 February – 8 March 2024.
Ahead of the inquest, we need your help.
Our family will be travelling from Yass to Dubbo (NSW) to attend the inquest for two weeks.
We will donate any extra funds that we don’t use for the inquest to the National Justice Project, the human rights law firm representing our family during the inquest. The National Justice Project helps other families like ours in discrimination cases and coronial inquests.
We hope the inquest will reveal what led to our son being denied the diagnosis and treatment he deserved at hospital, and why he was treated with bias.
Instead of receiving proper medical care, we believe Dougie was treated with racial bias, because he was an Aboriginal man whose rough looks, casual marijuana smoking, and tattoos on his hands made him a target for discrimination.
If you would like to help us secure accountability for Dougie’s treatment, please consider making a donation here.
Nothing will bring back our son, but this is our chance to secure answers about what happened to Dougie.
