Last week, my family and I marked the two-year anniversary of our son’s death. It was a hard week, but we were determined to make sure the government hears our call for health justice for First Nations people. Donate to our fundraiser to help us in our fight for #JusticeForDougie.

Two years ago from Monday last week, our son Dougie presented to Dubbo Hospital with severe “popping” and “tearing” pains in his stomach. Instead of receiving the medical attention he needed, he was told the next day to go home and drink water. Less than 24 hours later, he died of perforated ulcers.

On Tuesday last week, my family travelled to Dubbo Hospital to tell them that we are still campaigning for accountability and change.

We went there with a banner and image of our son Dougie to make sure they saw our message: Dougie, like all Aboriginal people, deserved quality, culturally-safe healthcare.

Then on the weekend, we travelled to Sydney to mark Dougie’s anniversary at a BLM rally.

I told the crowd that “Hopefully in the coronial inquest we will find out if there was racial discrimination – which we all know there was. With that evidence, we’ll take further action if we have to.”

If you are able to help my family continue our fight for #JusticeforDougie in the lead up to the coronial inquest, please consider making a donation to our crowdfunder.

Our family will be travelling from Yass to Dubbo (NSW) to attend the inquest for two weeks. If you’re able to help cover the costs of accommodation, food and transport for Dougie's family, please chip in to the fund.

With your support, my family will be able to fight for the answers we deserve.

Thanks again for having signed our petition and supporting our campaign.
