Hi Everyone:

David Lunden Askew III, who bludgeoned Maize with an axe, was imprisoned on March 1, 2024 in the Beaver County Prison on a $100,000 cash bail.  As of March 7, 2024, the cash bail was paid, and Mr. Askew is back on the streets.  A Preliminary Hearing has been set for March 14, 2024 at the Beaver County Courthouse, and we will keep you posted.  #Justice4Maize supporters will be attending that hearing with us.

For the upcoming hearings, we may create a Call to Action Campaign.

We know getting justice for Maize will be difficult and even dangerous on some fronts, but we are going to fight every step of the way.  Our fight for Maize is ultimately a fight for tougher Animal Cruelty, Abuse and Torture Laws in the State of PA and throughout the country.  We don’t want another family to endure this type of pain.  We will keep you posted on legislative efforts, but right now, our primary focus is getting justice for Maize.

Maize is continuing to see some gradual progress as she had her second follow-up appointment. People from all over the country are sending Maize lots of gifts, toys, food, treats and showing love and compassion for Maize. Our sweet Maize has an amazing spirit and has captured the hearts of so many.  She definitely feels the love!!  You may follow her progress on the Maize Hall Facebook Page. You can also follow updates on Twitter: #Justice4Maize.

If you have ideas or suggestions that would help us in our fight for justice or if you have been involved in a similar case, please feel free to message us via email maizescare@yahoo.com.

Today we reached 1,000 signatures, and thanks to you,! Our petition is growing stronger each day.  Your signing, sharing and donations to promote our petition have made all the difference!  We are grateful for your continued support. Change.org has shared the good news that the Maize attack is one of the top signed petitions on Change.org because of you and your support. Thank You all so much!

Please just keep spreading the word about Maize’s story!!  Together, we will create stronger laws and better protection for our fur babies!!
