Justice4Abe: Demand the Danbury State’s Attorney Request a Homicide Investigation

The Issue

To the Danbury State's Attorney and Concerned Citizens Worldwide:

On April 5, 2014, my brother, Gugsa Abraham "Abe" Dabela, was found dead in suspicious circumstances in Redding, Connecticut. Despite available evidence that raises serious doubts about the official ruling of "suicide," no homicide detectives ever investigated his death.

Recently, we made a direct appeal to the Connecticut Cold Case Unit, but our request was denied. They informed us that only the Danbury State's Attorney has the authority to request the Cold Case Unit to reopen the investigation.

With new leadership in the State’s Attorney's Office, we are renewing our call for justice. We need your support, no matter where you live, to demand a thorough and proper homicide investigation into Abe’s death.

Critical Facts that Need Reinvestigation:

  • Unanalyzed DNA Evidence: A mixture of DNA was found on the trigger of the gun recovered at the scene, but Abe was excluded as a contributor to that DNA.  Yet the DNA has never been run through modern forensic databases, which could identify the real person involved.
  • Incomplete Bullet Analysis: The only bullet recovered from the scene showed no trace of blood or DNA, raising serious questions about its role in the incident, yet this was never addressed.
  • Untapped Cell Tower Data: Law enforcement failed to collect and analyze cell tower data, which could reveal others present at the time of Abe’s death.
  • No Homicide Investigation Ever Conducted: Despite these glaring inconsistencies, no homicide detectives ever examined the case, and modern investigative tools were never applied.

The Dabela family, alongside a global community of supporters, is calling for the Danbury State's Attorney to request the Connecticut Cold Case Unit to finally investigate Abe's case as a potential homicide.

We need your signature to send a strong message that justice must be pursued, no matter how many years have passed or how powerful the opposition.

Your signature can help uncover the truth and secure justice for Abe. Please help us by signing and sharing this petition globally. Together, we can demand Justice 4 Abe.
