We are coming together to launch the #FreeLurk movement and demand transparency, fair treatment, and an unbiased legal process for Xavier Cortez Dennis. To me, Xavier is like a little brother. To his family, he is a dedicated father and a loving fiancé preparing for marriage. To his fans, he is the local artist known as Lurk, Mr. Lurk, and F.O.E. Lurk. Xavier maintains his absolute innocence regarding the charges against him.

We are deeply concerned by a series of alarming obstacles, lack of transparency, and pressure surrounding his right to a fair defense:

Denial of Public Records: Under Xavier's explicit direction, an email account was created to file official open-records requests seeking information about his arrest and prosecution. These requests were denied, restricting his ability to view critical information about his own case.

Pressure to Halt Inquiries: Immediately following these records requests, Xavier received an abrupt, unexpected visit from his defense attorney—a departure from the usual practice of sending an assistant. Instead of backing his push for transparency, the attorney explicitly advised him to "leave it alone." Xavier was warned that uncovering communications between officials could cause backlash or potential harm, raising serious concerns about his ability to secure a vigorous defense.

Unwarranted Involvement of His Fiancée: Following this attorney visit, Xavier was informed that the state is attempting to involve his fiancée as a witness and prepare her for depositions, despite her having absolutely no involvement, knowledge, or connection to the alleged crime.
Retaliation Concerns: While fighting for transparency and his constitutional rights from behind bars, Xavier is consistently facing retaliatory actions by jail officials.

Under the law, every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty. A man fighting for his life has the right to see the evidence against him, the right to a defense team that aggressively pursues the truth, and the right to be free from intimidation or jailhouse retaliation.
