Justice for Theresa Lasee: Unfair Sentence

Justice for Theresa Lasee: Unfair Sentence
The Issue
I am writing this petition to bring attention to the unjust imprisonment of Theresa Lasee in Brown County, WI, USA. This petition is personal to me because I have witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of a flawed legal system that failed to protect her rights.
Theresa had entrusted her future into the hands of legal professionals who were supposed to fight for justice on her behalf. However, it became evident during the courtroom proceedings that crucial aspects of her case were overlooked or ignored by her defense attorney. This failure resulted in an unfair conviction that has left Theresa behind bars for a crime she did not commit.
It is disheartening and alarming that our justice system can allow such grave injustices to occur. The consequences extend beyond just one person; they affect families, communities, and erode trust in our legal institutions.
To rectify this injustice, we call upon Brown County authorities and relevant stakeholders within the criminal justice system:
1. Conduct a thorough review of Theresa's case: We urge authorities to reevaluate all available evidence with utmost diligence and impartiality. It is essential that any overlooked or suppressed evidence be brought forward so that justice can prevail.
2. Provide adequate legal representation: In order for fairness to be restored, we demand that Theresa be granted access to competent legal counsel who will diligently investigate all aspects related to her case.
3. Expose corruption within the justice system: We implore investigative bodies at both local and state levels to thoroughly examine any potential misconduct or corruption surrounding Theresa's arrest, proceedings, or subsequent incarceration.
4. Ensure fair trials for all individuals: This case highlights the urgent need for reforms within our justice system. We call upon lawmakers and policymakers to implement measures that guarantee fair judgements, including increased accountability for defense attorneys and stricter regulations on evidence handling.
Theresa's wrongful conviction is not only a personal tragedy but also a reflection of systemic failures that must be addressed. By signing this petition, we stand together in demanding justice for Theresa and advocating for a more equitable legal system that upholds the rights of all individuals.
Together, let us raise our voices to free Theresa from the clutches of an unjust imprisonment and restore her faith in the fairness of our legal system.
Her previous employer has accused her of theft and she has been officially charged with 6 felony counts totaling >$100,000 (numerous counts were dropped with evidence that she was not unlawfully taking funds).
Her criminal defense attorney apparently did not perform her due diligence in researching the case and recommended that Theresa enter the Alford plea instead of going to jury trial so all facts could come to light.
The judge sentenced her to 21 years in prison along with extended supervision and community service. Theresa had been told by her lawyer to expect probation and community service.
Theresa is a law-abiding citizen with no prior record, has an upstanding reputation in her community and is well-loved and respected by her peers.
