Justice for the Dogs Shot and Buried in a Mass Grave at Miranda's Rescue in Fortuna

Justice for the Dogs Shot and Buried in a Mass Grave at Miranda's Rescue in Fortuna
The Issue
A rescue that called itself no-kill was allegedly shooting dogs and burying them in a mass grave.
Miranda's Rescue in Fortuna, California marketed itself as a sanctuary for distressed and abandoned animals. Shelters across the Central Coast trusted it as a rescue partner. Private donors paid $500 per dog believing they were funding second chances. Now the Humboldt County Sheriff's Major Crimes Division is investigating the organization for felony animal abuse, cruelty, fraud, and conspiracy.
At least two dogs transferred from Oakland and Berkeley animal shelters were found shot in the head and buried in a mass grave on the property. Their identities were confirmed through microchip records. These were not strays. They were shelter dogs that rescue partners and donors believed were safe.
Dozens of dogs were transferred to Miranda's Rescue from Central Coast shelters over the years. Five dogs were transferred as recently as February and March of this year. The full scope of what happened to those animals is not yet known.
The people who ran this organization collected money, accepted animals, and allegedly killed them. That is not rescue. That is fraud and cruelty dressed up as charity.
Sign this petition to demand the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office pursue the maximum criminal penalties against those responsible and ensure every animal transferred to Miranda's Rescue is accounted for.
