The Issue

Clinton and Cristen Brink were doing something so many families do — taking a hike with their daughters at a state park. But on July 26, while walking a trail at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas, they were brutally murdered in front of their two young children, ages 7 and 9. The girls survived, but they will carry that trauma for life.

Now, the man accused of killing them — 28-year-old James Andrew McGann — has been arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder. But here’s what’s even more disturbing: according to police, McGann had just been hired to work in a local school. He was arrested at a hair salon, just 30 miles from the park, days after the killings.

How was someone capable of this violence cleared to work near children? What background checks were—or weren’t—done? What red flags might have been missed?

We’re demanding two things: full justice for the Brink family, and a public investigation into how this suspect was cleared to work in a school setting. These are not separate issues. This isn’t just about one crime — it’s about whether the systems meant to protect families are actually working.

The state owes the Brink daughters more than silence. Arkansas prosecutors must reject any leniency or delays in this case. And state education officials must explain how this hiring happened and what will be done to prevent it from happening again.

If we don’t ask these questions now, it will happen again somewhere else. And more families will pay the price.

Please sign and help demand full justice — not just in court, but in every system that failed to stop this from happening in the first place.
