Petition for Justice for the Assassination of Two Brothers in Ajiran, Lekki

On 18 April 2023 and 26 August 2024, my brothers were assassinated in broad daylight in Ajiran Town, Agungi, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria.

These were not random incidents. They were deliberate, calculated acts of violence carried out openly in a community where families live, work, and raise their children. Our family has been shattered. Our community has been left traumatized.

Since these killings, we have lived with unbearable pain and persistent fear. When such crimes happen in broad daylight and accountability appears delayed, it sends a dangerous message that human life can be taken without consequence.

During investigation and interrogation, one of the suspected assassins reportedly mentioned that a man identified as Hammed Tajudeen, who resides in the United Kingdom with his family, provided financial support for the killings. We understand that he has been invited by authorities for questioning but has not presented himself.

We are not asking for mob justice. We are not asking for assumptions. We are asking for due process.

If a suspect’s name has been mentioned in connection with funding such a grave crime, that allegation must be thoroughly and transparently investigated. Residence abroad, social status, or perceived philanthropy must not shield anyone from lawful questioning. Charity does not replace accountability. Influence must not override justice.

We are also deeply concerned by reports that certain powerful individuals may be attempting to interfere or quietly suppress aspects of this case. If this is allowed, it will further erode public trust and embolden impunity.

We are therefore calling on:

• The Nigeria Police Force

 • The Lagos State Commissioner of Police

 • The Attorney General of Lagos State

 • The law enforcement in the United Kingdom

 • Relevant Federal authorities where international cooperation is required

to ensure:
 1. A transparent and independent investigation into the individual mentioned in connection with these assassinations.
 2. That suspect should be invited for questioning complies with lawful summons, including through international legal channels if necessary.
3.That suspect to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
 4. Regular public updates on the progress of this case to restore confidence in the justice system.

This petition is not only about our family.

It is about every resident of Ajiran, Lekki, and Lagos State who deserves to feel safe in their own community. It is about the principle that no one is above the law. It is about ensuring that wealth, distance, or reputation cannot be used as a shield against accountability.

Justice delayed weakens a nation. Justice denied endangers us all.

We refuse to accept a future where families must live in fear while those implicated avoid questioning. We demand that justice be pursued fully, fairly, and without compromise.
