Justice for the 32 Cubans Killed in U.S. Raid on Venezuela
The Issue
Thirty-two Cuban nationals are dead.
They were killed during a U.S. military operation in Venezuela, ordered by President Trump without congressional approval and without any declared war.
These 32 individuals were, according to the Cuban government, on official duty for Cuba’s Armed Forces and Ministry of the Interior. They died in bombings and combat initiated by the United States — a country not at war with Cuba, nor authorized to strike its personnel.
Cuba has condemned the attack as a “criminal act of aggression and state terrorism.” And yet, no investigation has been launched. No names have been released. No explanation has been offered. The world is being asked to simply move on — as if the deaths of 32 Cuban citizens do not matter.
But they do.
These were sons, daughters, parents. They were part of a sovereign nation with which the United States is not at war. Their deaths raise serious legal and moral questions, including potential violations of the Geneva Conventions and international law regarding extrajudicial killings.
The U.S. government cannot be allowed to kill foreign nationals with impunity. Especially not during peacetime. Especially not when those deaths occur in a country where the United States had no legal mandate to act.
We demand truth and accountability. We call on Congress, human rights organizations, and international legal bodies to immediately open an investigation into the deaths of these 32 Cuban citizens.
We also call on President Trump and U.S. military officials to publicly release information on who was targeted, why, and under what legal authority.
The Cuban people deserve justice. The families of the dead deserve answers. And the international community must affirm that no life is beneath recognition — no matter what country they are from.
