Justice for the 106 Dogs Rescued in Henry County, Virginia

Justice for the 106 Dogs Rescued in Henry County, Virginia
The Issue
On November 14th, 106 dogs were rescued from a home in Martinsville, Virginia, where they had been living in filth, overcrowding, and neglect.
Inside the house, deputies found urine and feces coating the floors, kennels overcrowded, and animals exposed to dangerous, unsanitary conditions.
This wasn’t a one-time lapse. These were long-term, hazardous conditions—and someone allowed over 100 dogs to live like that.
Thanks to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and a coalition of incredible animal rescue organizations, the dogs were safely removed in a 14-hour rescue operation. But the owner has not yet been charged, and justice is far from complete.
We are calling on the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to:
- File appropriate cruelty charges for the sustained neglect that led to this rescue.
- Ensure the owner is barred from owning animals in the future.
- Establish clear reporting systems and proactive inspection procedures to prevent hoarding or abuse of this scale from happening again.
Animal abuse and neglect on this scale must never be ignored. These dogs deserve more than just rescue—they deserve justice. And the shelters and rescues that stepped in deserve our full support.
Sign this petition if you believe 106 dogs suffering in silence deserve a voice—and that their abuser must be held fully accountable.
