As someone who was raised in evangelical non-denominational churches, I have witnessed the occurrence of disturbing incidents too many times to be ignored. It is troubling to discover that individuals who should be exemplars of moral virtues, turn out to be frauds, exploiting their followers and participating in horrendous acts of sexual abuse. It's an anguish that I believe no one should experience. The case of Robert Morris, a pastor, who admitted to child molestation is one glaring instance.

Child molestation is a crime that destroys lives, leaving its victims scarred and traumatized. It is heart-wrenching to know that the prevalence of child sexual abuse is disturbingly high. According to a 2014 study in the Journal of Adolescent Health, approximately one in nine girls and one in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult (Finkelhor, Shattuck, Turner, and Hamby). When this atrocity is perpetrated by people in positions of trust, the effects are even more devastating.

This petition seeks to demand justice for the alleged victims of Pastor Robert Morris. A perpetrator's religious status or societal standing should never be an avenue for impunity.
