It is important that all who embrace and understand the importance of Justice support the National Justice for Rekia Boyd Campaign for it is obvious that to call this a "justified shooting" as described by police at this early stage of the investigation is not only careless but suspicious. It is also clear that the murder of an innocent Black woman by an law enforcement agent must be addressed as aggressively and relentlessly as the murder of others at the hands of trigger happy perhaps power hungry assailants such as in the case of Treyvon Martin.

We must show Rekia's family and the community at large that we care and are with them, and that we will let the slaying of this innocent daughter, sister, and friend be brushed underneath the carpet nor dismissed.

Rekia Boyd,  a 22 year old  Black (African) women was shot in the head, murdered,  by an off duty police officer, whose name has still not been revealed, and killed because she was standing next to a Black man who the officer claims had a gun in his hand. The accused man, and other witnesses said, that the alleged gun that the man had in his hand was actually his cell phone. No gun was found and the person who was talking on the phone with the individual standing next to Rekia, who was shot in the hand, has given testimony that coincides with the telephone records that he was in fact talking on the phone at the time of the shooting.. It has been reported that the cop who resides in the same area where a park is located that is often frequent by young adults in the Spring and Summer, has complaint about there being too much noise. It was reported that the night of the incident,the police officer came out to ask that a group with about 60 persons to quiet down. Soon thereafter, across from the park, Rekia was shot and killed The Alderman of the 24th distinct where the shooting occurred has questioned the thoroughness of the police investigation, especially given the fact that it has been reported by neighbors that the officer said during the same week of the shooting "what did he have to do to get some peace and quiet, shot someone (paraphrase)"?  AND SO HE DID ..
