Justice for Octavia: A Call for Accountability and Change

Justice for Octavia: A Call for Accountability and Change
The Issue
On a fateful day in May of 2022, our beloved Octavia Jean Huber-Young was taken from us far too soon. She was 10 weeks shy of her 2nd birthday. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and kind heart were extinguished by a senseless act of violence at the hands of her own uncle Andrew who shot her over a t-shirt argument he was having with his brother Ethen who is Octavia’s dad.
Octavia's tragic death has left a deep wound in our hearts and a profound sense of loss in our community. She was more than just a victim; she was a daughter, a sister, and a bright light snuffed out far too soon.
But Octavia's story doesn't end with her untimely passing. It's a story of resilience, of seeking justice, and of demanding change. We refuse to let her memory fade into the darkness of indifference. We refuse to let her become just another statistic.
Octavia deserves justice. She deserves to have her voice heard in the halls of justice, to have her story told, and to have her uncle held accountable for his actions. But justice delayed is justice denied, and we cannot allow her case to be forgotten or overlooked.
That's why we're calling on the authorities, the District Attorney's office, and the court to expedite Octavia's murder trial. We demand that her case be heard this year, without delay, so that she can finally rest in peace and her family can find closure.
We cannot bring Octavia back, but we can fight for her legacy. We can stand together as a community and demand accountability for her senseless death. We can work to ensure that no other family has to endure the pain and suffering that we have experienced.
Join us in seeking justice for Octavia. Sign this petition to show your support for expediting her murder trial and holding her uncle accountable for his heinous actions. As of now Andrew’s trial is not until summer of 2025. It has been 2 years since her death, and we are still waiting for a trail. Together, we can make a difference and honor Octavia's memory by fighting for a more just and compassionate world.
Let Octavia's light shine bright in our hearts as we strive for justice in her name.
