Justice for Nala the Crab Hunter: Stop Her Unfair Confinement!
To: Bay County Officials, Bay County Animal Control, and Concerned Citizens
We, the undersigned, demand justice for Nala, a beloved dog who has been unjustly confined for months by Bay County Animal Control. Nala is not a dangerous animal—she is a loyal companion who instinctively acted to protect her owner when she perceived a threat.
Earlier this year in January, a man approached Nala’s owner in a manner that appeared aggressive. Sensing danger, Nala bit the individual’s hand in an effort to defend her owner. This was not an unprovoked attack, but a natural protective response. Shockingly, instead of recognizing this context, Bay County Animal Control has placed Nala in solitary confinement, where she has suffered for months awaiting a hearing.
Key Facts Supporting Nala’s Release:
1. The man Nala bit has since been arrested on drug charges. This raises serious questions about his actions that day and supports the argument that Nala was reacting to a legitimate threat.
2. Nala is not an aggressive dog. She has never been a danger to the public, and her reaction was purely instinctual in defense of her owner.
3. Solitary confinement is cruel and inhumane. Keeping Nala locked up alone for months is unnecessary punishment, causing extreme distress and negatively affecting her well-being.
4. There are more reasonable alternatives. Instead of prolonged confinement, Nala should be allowed to return home under supervision or be fairly evaluated by a professional behaviorist.
Our Demands:
• Release Nala from solitary confinement immediately.
• Conduct a fair and prompt behavior assessment.
• Allow her owner to reunite with her under reasonable conditions.
Nala is a loyal and loving dog who does not deserve to be locked away for protecting the person she loves. Please join us in standing up for her and demanding justice.
