My name is Anndrea Robinson, and I am a mother from New Orleans, Louisiana whose life was forever changed by an unimaginable tragedy.

Two years ago, my 15-year-old son was shot and killed by a grown man while he was still wearing his school uniform. He was just a child — full of life, full of dreams, and deserving of a future that was stolen from him.

Even though the person responsible for his death has been identified, justice has still not been fully served. For two long years, my family has been left grieving, waiting, and fighting for accountability.

This tragedy has shattered our family. My other child witnessed her brother take his last breath — something no child should ever have to experience. Because of that trauma, she has been forced to be homeschooled for the past two years as she struggles to heal.

Our pain was also shared publicly when we appeared on A&E, exposing one of the most devastating moments of our lives for the world to see.

No parent should have to bury their child. No child should lose their life this way. And no family should have to beg for justice.

We are demanding:

That the individual responsible for my son’s death is held fully accountable under the law
That this case is treated with urgency and seriousness
That justice is no longer delayed

My son’s life mattered. His name mattered. His future mattered.
