Justice for river Cauvery

Justice for river Cauvery
The Issue
Do you know you will not have water to drink in coming days??
Due to deficit rains and bad water conservation implementation by Karnataka governments, the water in Kaveri river is very low.
On top of it, Kaveri tribunal has asked us to release 5000 cusecs of water every day. If we release water for next week, we will have no water for people of Karnataka and for farming.
Hence, Pro Kannada activists, Farmers, Doctors, advocates, drivers and many other organizations have joined hands and formed Karnataka Jala Samrakshana Samithi and organized a Bandh on 26th September 2023 from 6 am to 6 PM.
Act now, and we can bring people together in time to act. Unless well meaning people come together and take action, solutions will not be implemented.
What you can do?
1. Join us at a nearby protest. There is one on 26th September 2023, at Freedom Park
Or
2. Organize a civil/community meet within your own residential premises, hold a placard (Save Water, Save Kaveri) and send me a picture on 6363524983 and get a signature campaign executed in your apartment.

Karnataka has declared 195 taluks as drought-hit recently. In 2018, the source of the river Cauvery dried up for the first time in its entire history. The govt has been doing precious little to stop the tide of mismanagement of forests and green cover in the watershed areas of the river, and all other water bodies of the state. They are all being destroyed. Lakes, ponds, streams, rivers are all drying up. We are faced with a crisis of monumental proportions.
Despite the warnings of the ecological collapse, impending climate emergency and challenges for water security, the State Govt has done precious little to fix the degradation of our natural resources. Today, we are paying the price for this mismanagement of decades if not centuries. The National Water Policy of 2012 has been ignored for long.
Finally, the Karnataka Govt commissioned the drafting of a sustainable State Water Policy, which was ready in 2019. This policy if implemented has the potential to rectify the situation, and restore the health to our rivers and water bodies, including the river Cauvery. However, the Policy has been gathering dust ever since. In 2022, it was declared as adopted. Yet, we see no action to implement the policy.
We demand that the State Water Policy be implemented in totality, as drafted originally, and the health of all water bodies in the state be restored, especially local water sources of every village, ward, town, city and district. An ecologically sound approach of restoring the watershed, catchments, flood plains, etc., is adopted to ensure every area has its own local water security, which is the only sustainable solution.
We demand that not just Karnataka, but also Tamil Nadu and all other states of India similarly implement a sustainable Water Policy, so that local water security is restored everywhere, and there are no more water conflicts over rivers.

Bengaluru Wastes Nearly 50% Water Supply From Cauvery
As Karnataka continues its legal battle over the Cauvery, the state's capital--almost entirely dependent on the river--wastes half the water it receives, according to an IndiaSpend analysis of water-use data.
