Justice for Michelle - Making changes to the current law Md. Code, Fam. Law § 5-525.1

I’m looking to have changes made to the current law Md. Code, Fam. Law § 5-525.1 currently it’s allows the judge or magistrate to decide if a parents rights will be presented to be terminated if the other parent is convicted of a crime against the other parent. In my case my nephews Mother (my late sister) was brutally murdered by his Father & the magistrate assigned to his Foster care case refused to file a petition to terminate the fathers rights because she stated it would “take too long” I would like to see this law modified from what currently is an “option” to a mandatory thing (termination of parental rights) especially if the conviction is due to murder.
