Justice for Michael Jeffrey Stewart: Shut Down Liberty Lake Day Camp in Bordentown, NJ

Kampanya metni

Twenty-five lifeguards on duty and a one on one aide yet, 6 year old Michael Jeffrey Stewart was not found at the Liberty Lake Day Camp pool until he was unresponsive on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024. Michael's parents, his sister, family members, friends and the township of Lumberton, NJ are all mourning the loss of one very short-lived soul and are demanding answers and justice.

The owner and director of Liberty Lake Day Camp in Bordentown, NJ, Andy Pritikin, has not addressed the event nor offered a formal apology to Michael's parents or members of the public on social media. Comments have been turned off on both the camp's Facebook and Instagram social media accounts. Furthermore, the same pool where Michael drowned was opened and operating the very next day. It is not understood how a proper investigation of the camp, including its pools, equipment and staff would be executed effectively without enough time after the life-ending event.

I, Elizabeth Ann Klein of Lumberton, NJ am asking for support in having the Liberty Lake Day Camp in Bordentown, NJ to be shut down permanently as the owner Andy Pritikin has demonstrated that even with the amount of staff on duty and with a one on one aide to Michael Stewart, that his facility is unable to provide adequate attention and safety for all campers. With Pritikin's lack of public acknowledgment to the event yet his ability to intentionally not allow comments on his public social media pages for his camp, he is demonstrating his disregard for the loss of one of his camper's life as well as accepting full accountability for this horrific and tragic event and failed to provide sympathy for a loving Lumberton family.

I am also asking that the family of Michael Jeffrey Stewart be fully reimbursed for their camp tuition, at a 100% reimbursement  and be compensated/100% reimbursed for funeral expenses as well. The parents recently held an fundraising event in Lumberton to be able to afford funeral and burial services for their son. As beautiful as it was for all of us to come together as a community to support Michael and his family, this is unfair and all costs related to Michael's passing should be covered by Andy Pritikin/Liberty Lake Day Camp. No parent should even have to bury their child, especially due to an event and lack of responsibility that was not in their control.

Please support this petition by signing and sharing! Let's prevent another child's death from occurring at Liberty Lake Day Camp at 1195 Florence Columbus Rd, Bordentown, NJ 08505 and let's help justice be served to this family by demanding the financial support be rightly so delivered to them!
