This movement has been inspired by Dallas businessman Anthony Thomas, who on Feb. 11, 2011, witnessed his mother, Margaret Thomas, die needlessly in the emergency room of a local hospital due to accused negligence by hospital staff members in care of Ms. Thomas, as confirmed by an investigation by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Mr. Thomas is calling for policy and legislative changes that would put more accountability on medical practitioners and prevent any other patient to die without dignity the way Margaret Thomas did.

Letter to
The Texas Medical Community
I believe that there needs to be an effort to eliminate medical negligence at the hands of emergency room doctors and nurses. This is a problem that exists on the national scale and needs to be addressed.

I, along with Anthony Thomas, am calling for policy and legislative changes that will help eliminate negligence in hospital emergency rooms and for during medical procedures.
