This movement has been inspired by Dallas businessman Anthony Thomas, who on Feb. 11, 2011, witnessed his mother, Margaret Thomas, die needlessly in the emergency room of a local hospital due to accused negligence by hospital staff members in care of Ms. Thomas, as confirmed by an investigation by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Mr. Thomas is calling for policy and legislative changes that would put more accountability on medical practitioners and prevent any other patient to die without dignity the way Margaret Thomas did.
