The Issue

We, the concerned citizens of the global community, call for justice and fairness in the case of Mahendra Patel, a 62-year-old Indian-origin man in Georgia, USA, who was wrongly arrested and jailed for 47 days on false kidnapping charges.

Surveillance footage now reveals that Mr. Patel did not attempt to kidnap anyone, as originally claimed. Despite this, he still faces serious charges of attempted kidnapping, assault, and battery — charges that could harm his life, dignity, and freedom.

This is not just about one man — it’s about preventing the misuse of power, protecting innocent lives, and ensuring that due process is followed before labeling someone a criminal.

We respectfully demand the following:

1. All charges against Mahendra Patel be immediately dropped, based on the lack of credible evidence.

2. A full and fair investigation into how such a serious accusation was made and acted upon without proper review.

3. Public officials to ensure this does not happen again to innocent individuals, especially in vulnerable communities.

Mr. Patel spent over six weeks in jail, isolated and confused, reading the Bhagavad Gita to find strength. He deserves not only his freedom, but also an apology and a restored reputation.

Let’s stand for truth. Let’s stand for justice.
