Justice for Kimora
Justice for Kimora
The Issue
We are calling on the Pitt County Board of Education, the administration, and staff of South Central High School in Winterville, North Carolina, to honor the life and academic achievements of Kimora Ashanti Robinson by calling her name during graduation—just as they will for every other student who earned a diploma.
Kimora tragically lost her life on October 7, 2025, in a car accident directly in front of South Central High School. She was only 17 years old, an honor student with a 3.9 GPA, and had already exceeded the required graduation credits at the time of her passing. Kimora was also dually enrolled at South Central High School and Pitt Community College, demonstrating her dedication, discipline, and commitment to her future.
We are not asking for a moment of silence, a special chair, or any additional ceremony. We are asking for one simple, meaningful act of fairness: that Kimora’s name be called during graduation in the same manner as her classmates—for the diploma she earned through hard work and perseverance.
While Pitt Community College has confirmed its intent to honor Kimora at graduation, South Central High School Principal Dr. Clayton has refused to do so. This decision deeply affects Kimora’s family, loved ones, and community, and sends a painful message about how the accomplishments of students who pass too soon are valued.
This petition is not only about Kimora. It is about setting a precedent of compassion and respect for any future student whose life is tragically cut short after fulfilling their academic requirements. No family should have to fight for their child’s name to be spoken, their work acknowledged, or their legacy respected.
By signing this petition, you are standing for dignity, fairness, and the recognition of a life and future that mattered. Please join us in ensuring that Kimora Ashanti Robinson is honored as the graduate she earned the right to be.
