The Issue

911 calls from the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas describe children burning with fever, suffering seizures, and struggling to breathe.

Since September, emergency crews have been dispatched at least 11 times for children in medical distress inside the facility.

Doctors warn that detention settings can worsen health conditions for children and have formally urged the Department of Homeland Security to release those held there. DHS maintains that families receive proper medical care and denies allegations of neglect.

This is not about immigration politics. It is about children in medical crisis.

No child should be gasping for air behind barbed wire. No parent should have to wait in long lines in harsh weather for medicine while their baby’s condition worsens.

We call on President Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to immediately release medically vulnerable children from detention, allow independent pediatric oversight at Dilley, and ensure that no child’s health deteriorates due to confinement.

Justice means protecting the most vulnerable.

Protect these children. Act now.
