Subject: Urgent Appeal for the Reunification of Kashmir by Reacquiring Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to Secure India’s Sovereignty, Ensure Citizens Safety, and Deliver Justice

Respected Sir,

We, the concerned citizens of India, united by a deep commitment to our nation’s security, sovereignty, and unity, humbly submit this petition seeking immediate and decisive action for the retrieval of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The historic and legal rights of India over the entire territory of Jammu and Kashmir are indisputable. Despite this, a significant portion remains under illegal occupation by Pakistan since 1947, which continues to serve as a breeding ground for terrorism, instability, and cross-border violence against India.

The urgency of reclaiming PoK has been underscored by a series of brutal terror attacks originating from groups operating in that region.

Recent Tragic Events:

The Pahalgam Attack (April 22, 2025):
In one of the deadliest terror attacks in Kashmir’s history, 28 innocent tourists, including women and children, were mercilessly killed near Pahalgam. Militants associated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba, deliberately targeted civilians based on their religion. The horror of innocent families being identified and slaughtered on religious grounds has shaken the conscience of the entire nation.

The Reasi Pilgrim Attack (June 9, 2024):
In Reasi district, militants attacked a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims, resulting in 9 deaths and 41 injuries. This attack, again traced back to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist outfits, highlighted how soft targets continue to suffer due to unchecked infiltration from PoK.

These incidents are not isolated tragedies but are part of a continuing pattern of violence fueled by terrorists nurtured in PoK.

Why Reclaiming PoK is Essential:

Security Imperative:
PoK serves as a safe haven for terrorist organizations that plot, train, and launch attacks against India. Reclaiming this territory is crucial to permanently dismantling terror networks and ensuring the safety of Indian citizens, particularly those living in Jammu and Kashmir.

Moral Responsibility:
The people of PoK have lived under oppression, denied fundamental rights and dignity. It is India’s moral duty to liberate and integrate them under the democratic framework and constitutional protections guaranteed to every Indian citizen.

National Integrity:
Kashmir is not just a piece of land; it is an integral part of India’s history, culture, and identity. PoK remains a glaring reminder of unfinished business post-Partition. Complete integration is essential for India’s unity and sovereignty.

Global Legitimacy:
India’s claim over PoK is firmly rooted in the Instrument of Accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1947. The world community is increasingly recognizing India’s rightful stance, especially after the historic abrogation of Article 370, which reaffirmed Kashmir’s complete constitutional integration with India.

Our Humble Demands:

1) Formulate a robust and time bound national strategy to reclaim PoK through diplomatic, constitutional, and where necessary, strategic means.

2) Strengthen India’s international advocacy efforts to expose Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism and to garner global backing for India’s legitimate claim over PoK.

3) Expand military, intelligence, and border security capabilities to neutralize terror threats emanating from PoK.

4) Establish a framework for the rehabilitation and development of PoK after its reunification, ensuring full democratic rights, opportunities, and protections for its residents.

5) Recognize and honor the martyrs civilians, soldiers, and security personnel who have sacrificed their lives defending Kashmir’s integrity.

Conclusion:

The wounds of terror cannot heal while its roots remain alive in PoK. Justice demands not just condemnation of terror but action against its sources. For too long, the dreams of a complete, peaceful, and united Kashmir have been deferred.

The sacrifices of our citizens, soldiers, and innocent victims of terror compel us to act now.

The time has come to bring closure to the Kashmir conflict by fulfilling the aspirations of every Indian to see Kashmir, in its entirety, under the tricolor.

We, the people of India, pledge our full support to any measures undertaken by the Government to achieve this historic mission.
