The Issue

This petition aims to address the persistent and unjust treatment of a dedicated student-athlete during &  following her first season as a Golden Girl at Alcorn State University. Despite her demonstrated talent and commitment to the program, she has been subjected to an environment characterized by psychological manipulation and "mind games" from staff members.

The core of this grievance centers on the following issues:

• Lack of Mental Wellbeing Support: The consistent use of exclusionary tactics that have negatively impacted the student’s mental health and overall university experience.

• Systemic Favoritism: Instances of biased treatment that undermine the principles of meritocracy and fair play essential to a collegiate dance team.

• Professional Accountability: A call for transparency regarding coaching decisions and the implementation of a standard of conduct for staff to ensure all dancers are treated with dignity and respect.

By signing this petition, we are shining a light on these internal issues to ensure that no student-athlete has to endure an environment that prioritizes personal bias over professional mentorship. We demand a fair and supportive atmosphere that honors the hard work and talent of every member of the Alcorn State University Golden Girls.
