Joni Paige, a  loving grandmother, was a beacon of strength and positivity in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and her great grand daughter’s life. She was the guiding light in the family.  Her loss has not only created an irreplaceable void in everyone’s  lives but also unveiled a chilling disregard for life and justice.

On January 3rd, 2024, while walking in a crosswalk on Tully and Bowen Ave, Joni was tragically struck by a car driven by MARY DIINAPOLI, who did not yield. Joni succumbed to her injuries on January 5th, 2024. The Modesto Police Department's lack of concern, however, has left us questioning the fairness of our justice system. The essential act of visiting the hospital to take statements was negligently overlooked, fueling suspicions of the preferential treatment of Mary, a potential income source for the city of Modesto.

We firmly believe that no citizen should be above the law, and a fair investigation indeed attests to the principles of our justice system.

We request the state authorities and the police department to look into the case with urgency and transparency and move the wheels of justice for Joni Paige's tragic death. It is high time that we raised our voice against such carelessness and societal disparity.
