A young man, Clint Acevedo, is suffering an extreme level of a miscarriage of justice. This young man’s life has been greatly affected in a heinous way.  
Over 4 years ago, this young man had everything going for him. He was in high school and forging meaningful relationships. He was a member of the football team, being watched for possible scholarships, and just being an all around amazing individual, productive member of society, and a kid who would go out of his way to help others in need. During this time, he was informed that a girl, who was infatuated with him with a school-yard crush, had been spreading rumors around the school and bragging to her friends that they (him and her) had been engaging in sexual activity. As this was something he knew to be untrue, he confronted the girl about her words. Unfortunately, she suffered embarrassment due to her exaggerated lies being brought to light. Shortly after he confronted her in front of her friends and other students, she went to the police station and filed charges against him for rape/sexual assault. 
I will be the first to admit that the crimes of sexual assault are nothing to take lightly when the accusations are valid and justified. In this case, however, there was no proof, other than the accusations of the girl. The boy’s family had the police send off the “evidence” for DNA testing and paid the cost for testing. The provided evidence came back negative for the presence of his DNA. The boy found himself to be the subject of ridicule and allegations, and had restraining orders placed upon him to prohibit him from being able to attend school, finish his high school football career, was forfeited the chance to get drafted for scholarships, and was to refrain from even participating in any extracurricular activities as well. His life and personal relationships were being destroyed based on hearsay. 
In another twisted display of injustice, his family (mother, father & siblings) have also found themselves to be the subject of public ridicule and harassment, with the local police departments in Queen City and Atlanta, Texas unwilling to pursue charges of slander, harassment, or even filing false police reports that has been aimed at this family. 
Through this whole ordeal, this young man tried to hold his head up, tell the truth, and had faith that the justice system would prevail, as long as he remained steadfast and honest. Unfortunately, this was not the case. After 4.5 years of dealing with his name being drug through the mud and his family being subjected to the girl’s family openly slandering them in public, the Cass County, Texas DA went forth with the charges, and he was was convicted based on the word of a girl against lack of physical evidence. This area of Texas is in the midst of being investigated for misconduct.  If anything can be done to correct this massive injustice, it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the justice system does not seem to operate in the way it was deemed to, and innocence has become subjective, even when proof of such is offered. This young man, Clint Acevedo, does not deserve to go through these unfounded, unnecessary hardships, which are casting irreparable damage and an unremovable stain to his name, while tarnishing any quality of life he may have for the duration of his existence. 
The community stands behind this young man, and it is important to remember, this whole ordeal could happen to any of our loved ones. One false allegation can ruin a life. Right this wrong!!!!
