On the night of October 31, 2025, our lives were forever changed. Our beloved Jaylan Bell a father, son, brother, and nephew and his precious seven-year-old bonus daughter, Za’riah Ward, were tragically taken from us in a devastating head-on collision caused by a drunk driver in Cordele, Georgia.
They were traveling from the Atlanta airport to Albany, Georgia, with hearts full of joy and excitement, looking forward to celebrating a family member’s wedding and Za’riah’s eighth birthday on November 2nd. Za’riah was a beautiful light in our lives, and their sudden loss has left a pain and emptiness that words cannot fully describe.
Also in the vehicle were Za’riah’s mother and her best friend, who survived the crash but were forever changed by the traumatic events that unfolded in mere seconds. The impact of this tragedy extends beyond the lives lost it has affected an entire family and community.
This was not just an accident; it was a devastating reminder of the dangers and consequences of impaired driving. A decision made by one person changed countless lives forever and took away two people who were deeply loved and had so much more life ahead of them.
