Sub: Posting and Extension of Service of Sri A.B.Venkateswara Rao, IPS

We are writing to highlight the plight of Sri A.B.Venkateswara Rao, IPS, who has been awarded a President’s medal for distinguished service, and an outstanding officer with an impeccable record of incorruptibility. Ironically, the AP Government headed by Chief Minister Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused Sri A.B. Venkateswara Rao of wrong doing and suspended him. Both the high court and the supreme court ruled against the government’s wrongful suspension orders. The Central Administrative Tribunal found Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government in “contempt of the Supreme Court” and ordered immediate reinstatement of A.B. Venkateswara Rao into service, and the state government to this day chose not to implement those orders.

There is no time left to get relief from the courts. The courts are on vacation and also, Sri A.B.Venkateswara Rao is retiring on 31-5-2024.

Sri A.B.Venkateswara Rao (ABV) has been suspended for over four years. He is on the verge of retirement. We request the Election Commission of India to intervene in this matter immediately and restore people's confidence in the government's ability to protect honest and upright officers. On behalf of our organization, and millions of people in the Andhra Pradesh state, we request you to give him a posting suitable to his experience and extend his service by a month, so that the new state government to be sworn in June, can take appropriate remedial actions.
