The Issue

What kind of person looks at a small, helpless dog and sees something disposable?

On the morning of April 14, 2025, in Las Vegas, a man was seen on surveillance footage doing the unthinkable: exiting his car, gripping a tiny dog by the neck, and throwing it into a dumpster like trash. He then coldly turned his car around, came back — just to shut the lid — before driving away.

This wasn’t an accident. This wasn’t a moment of lost control. It was a calculated act of cruelty.

Thanks to the work of Las Vegas police and Animal Protection Services, the man was identified and arrested. His name is Alexis Flores, and he is now facing three counts of willful and malicious torture of an animal. That’s a start, but it’s not enough.

We’re calling on prosecutors and the court to treat this case with the seriousness it deserves. This was not a victimless crime. That little dog could have died in the dark, suffocating, scared, and alone, and it was only by a miracle that someone found and saved her. She is recovering, but the trauma of what was done to her should never be minimized.

Animal lovers across the country are watching. This case is not just about one dog. It’s about every creature who suffers in silence at the hands of those who think they can get away with violence.

Let this case send a clear message: we will not tolerate cruelty. The justice system must prosecute Alexis Flores to the fullest extent of the law. No plea deals. No slaps on the wrist. Real consequences.

Sign and share this petition if you believe animals are not trash. They are family, and they deserve justice.
