Justice for Harley, the Bulldog & his family
The Issue
Harley the bulldog came in with his dog mama Norma Reyes for an ear infection and standard nail trimming at Pet Doctor 911 in McAllen, TX. As many dog owners know, nail trimming can be a scary ordeal for them, as paws are extremely sensitive areas. Harley was very scared and wriggly during the process of his nail trim, so the Pet Doctor 911 worker was holding him down. However, the way she was holding him was UNACCEPTABLE. The worker had him in a choke hold position vs. standardized practices (i.e. below the neck or even using a grooming hammock/arm). This can be seen at time stamp 1:05 in the video clip provided below. TRIGGER WARNING!!!
Sadly, Harley ended up passing away as a result of this workers incompetence. Bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed, so they are more susceptible to breathing issues. If you have someone putting pressure in an area that is already "in distress", you are making matters worse. SHE STRANGLED HIM TO DEATH. Not to mention, NONE of the workers in the video tried to attempt resuscitation. There was no sense of urgency to save poor Harley's life.
This is absolutely unacceptable from a facility who claims to have the "finest veterinary care". Not only does the worker need to be released of duty, but the "Pet Doctor 911" facility NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE.
To make matters even worse, they did not own up to their mistake. Instead, they had the audacity to lie to Norma and tell her that "he collapsed and died". An act of sheer cowardice. WHERE IS THEIR INTEGRITY?! These are people that we trust with our family, because we all know that dogs are a part of our FAMILY.
Further, there have been many reports of people's pets passing away at this facility. A yelp review has referenced their services as "Dog killers, unprofessional, & ghetto service". Clearly, their staffing needs a revamp and adequate training.
DEMAND JUSTICE FOR HARLEY & HIS HEARTBROKEN FAMILY, Norma & Felix Reyes . They did not deserve this. Nobody deserves to lose their fur baby at the expense of a so-called "professional" veterinary practice.
