Justice for Gabriela Saldana

Justice for Gabriela Saldana
The Issue
Gabriela Saldana, a Florida International University student, posted in a 215-person WhatsApp group: "Netanyahu, if you can hear me, drop some bonbons for us Capstone students in Ocean Bank Convocation Center." The word "bonbons" was interpreted by police as a bomb threat. She later added,
"There's going to be a bomb." But it was a joke-a dumb one, she admitted — but a joke nonetheless.
The aftermath? Arrested. Charged with making written threats to kill or do bodily harm (a second-degree felony in Florida).
Bail set at $5,000. She could face up to 15 years in prison. A GoFundMe was set up for her legal defense, and her parents are begging for mercy. The judge? Not amused. "It's not a joke," she said.
The hypocrisy? While this student's life is being destroyed over a message, the US government is actively threatening to blow up Iran's entire infrastructure. Trump says
"the whole country is going to get blown up" if Iran doesn't sign a deal. He's threatened to "knock out every single power plant and every single bridge." That's fine. But a college student making a sarcastic joke? That's a felony.
The bigger picture: This arrest is happening while the US-Iran ceasefire hangs by a thread. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed after Iran accused the US of "piracy." Russia and China are ditching the dollar (99% of their trade is now in yuan and rubles). BRICS is building a digital payment system to bypass the US dollar entirely. The world is fracturing, and here we are, locking up kids for jokes.
