We, the undersigned Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), medical students, doctors, parents and concerned citizens, respectfully appeal to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), National Medical Commission (NMC), and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, to urgently address the concerns faced by candidates who appeared for the FMGE June 2026 examination.

The FMGE is a qualifying examination that determines whether foreign-trained medical graduates can enter the Indian medical system. We fully support maintaining high standards of medical competency. Our demand is not for compromising those standards. Our demand is for a fair, transparent and equitable evaluation process.

The June 2026 examination resulted in an exceptionally low pass percentage and generated widespread concerns among candidates regarding the examination pattern, multimedia/video-based questions, time burden, difficulty level, transparency of evaluation and examination-centre conditions.

Our Demands
1. Compensatory Relief for June 2026 Candidates
We request NBEMS/NMC to reconsider the possibility of appropriate compensatory marks or an appropriate qualifying-threshold adjustment for the June 2026 batch after objectively assessing the impact of the changed examination format, video-based questions, time constraints and other reported issues. This request is specifically for the June 2026 examination and should not be treated as a demand to permanently dilute FMGE standards.

2. Release of the Official Answer Key
We request the publication of the official answer key for FMGE June 2026, allowing candidates and the medical community to understand the basis on which answers were evaluated.

3. Access to Individual Response Sheets
Candidates should be provided access to their recorded responses/response sheets and corresponding evaluation details, subject to appropriate examination-security safeguards. A candidate who has failed an examination that determines their professional future should have a meaningful mechanism to understand how their result was arrived at.

4. Independent Review of Video/Multimedia Questions
We request an independent assessment of the video/multimedia-based questions introduced in FMGE June 2026, including: their number and proportion; time required to interpret them; technical functioning;
whether candidates received adequate prior information regarding the format; whether the format created an additional time burden; and whether any such impact disproportionately affected candidates.

5. Review of Overall Difficulty and Time Burden
We request an objective review of the overall difficulty, question design and time required to complete the June 2026 examination.The assessment should consider not only the correctness of individual questions but also the cumulative examination experience faced by candidates.

6. Investigation of Examination-Centre Conditions
We request appropriate investigation into complaints regarding examination-centre conditions, including air-conditioning/ventilation, heat, technical issues, computer systems, drinking water and other infrastructure-related concerns reported by candidates. Where genuine deficiencies are established, appropriate remedial action should be taken.

7. Advance Notice of Future Examination-Pattern Changes
Any significant change in the FMGE examination pattern, including the introduction of multimedia/video questions, should be clearly communicated well in advance.
Candidates should be provided with adequate information and familiarisation material so that they can prepare for the actual examination format.

8. A Fair and Transparent Resolution for the June 2026 Batch
We request NBEMS, NMC and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to engage directly with representatives of the affected June 2026 candidates and provide a transparent, reasoned and publicly communicated resolution.

We Are Not Asking for Lower Medical Standards
This movement is not against competency-based medical assessment. Foreign Medical Graduates understand the importance of maintaining high standards for medical practice in India.

We are simply asking for:

Fair examination.
Transparent evaluation.
Predictable examination standards.
Equal opportunity.
Accountability.

A candidate should not be denied a fair opportunity because of an examination format or circumstances that were not adequately communicated or objectively evaluated.

Why This Matters
Behind every FMGE result is a medical graduate who has spent years studying medicine, often under difficult circumstances, with significant financial and emotional investment.

For many candidates, failure in the FMGE means months of additional preparation, loss of professional opportunities, financial hardship and uncertainty about their future.

We therefore respectfully request the authorities to reconsider the concerns of the June 2026 FMGE batch with empathy, transparency and evidence-based assessment.
