On March 14th @ 8:13 Pm We Lost Someone Very Important To Us His Name Was Deshon Chester He Was A Beloved Father,Son,Uncle, Nephew,Husband,Cousin & Friend He Was Very Big Hearted Soul Would Give You The Shirt Off His Back That Night He Got By 3 Vehicles 1st Was A Drunk Old Man The 2nd Driver Was An Ems Worker & The 3rd Driver is (TBA). We learned That Lenoir Police Dept Responded To This Call The Old Man That Hit Him Was Drunk And The Officers That Was On Duty Didn't Even Breathalyze The Man And Also Let Him Go Now We Got More Information That Could Put Lenoir Police Dept In Serious Trouble In Getting Sued.It Constitutes A Critical Dereliction Of Duty, And In Many Jurisdictions, A Criminal Offense.Such actions expose both the officer and their department to severe civil liabilities, criminal charges, and internal affairs investigations.Criminal Charges: Officers who intentionally ignore a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) or cover up an accident can be charged with crimes, such as official misconduct, tampering with public records, or obstructing justice.

Termination and Loss of Certification: An officer will almost universally be fired and stripped of their law enforcement certification for failing to enforce DUI laws, especially when a collision or injury is involved.

Civil Liability: Both the officer and the employing municipality can face substantial civil lawsuits from victims, who can argue that the officer’s failure to detain the driver was a direct cause of any subsequent injuries or damages. Document Everything: Gather all available evidence, including the exact time, date, location, the responding officer's name, their badge number, patrol vehicle numbers, and any dashcam or body-worn camera footage of the incident.

Contact Internal Affairs: Reach out to the police department's Internal Affairs (IA) division or the local police precinct's watch commander. Explain the situation and request an official investigation into the officers’ conduct.

Contact the District Attorney: Reach out directly to the local District Attorney’s (DA) or State Attorney's office. They have the authority to launch independent criminal investigations into corrupt or negligent police practices.

File an Official Complaint: Submit an official misconduct complaint through local oversight bodies, such as a Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) or the state's Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) board.
