The Issue

🚨URGENT: Justice for a Mother and her Baby
The death of a mother and her unborn baby during delivery at St.Elizabeth Mukumu Hospital, Kakamega. Kenya.
Circumstances surrounding this incident, as reported by the family, raise serious concerns that warrant immediate and independent investigation.
According to the family’s account, the mother described as previously healthy experienced severe distress during labor and repeatedly stated that she could not breathe and could not see before losing consciousness. The family further reports that during this emergency, they were directed to arrange payment for an ambulance.
Upon returning, they state they found her unresponsive, with significant blood loss present in the delivery area. Following her passing, the family reports they were instructed to transfer the body to the mortuary. They further state that after doing so, they were contacted on the following day and informed to return to pick up her uterus that had been removed and left at the hospital. These events have caused deep distress and raise serious questions requiring transparent clarification.
This matter concerns not only one grieving family but the safety and integrity of maternal healthcare services at that Hospital. We the people trust your offices will treat this complaint with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.
Kenyan’s are demanding independent investigation and full transparency.
Given the gravity of these allegations we respectfully are calling on:
